Each month via our Mobile Recruitment Buzz newsletter, we interview a leading player in the HR recruitment space to identify the reasons behind their decision to invest in mobile. This month we talk to Kat Drum – Employment Brand and Social Media Strategies Manager at RIM:
Q – Why did you decided to invest in a “mobile recruiting strategy”?
A – I couldn’t afford not to. People are on their smartphones all the time; people are accessing social networks more from a smartphone than the desktop. Apps are brilliant they offer real-time push job alerts to people’s phones without them searching the app every day. It’s an amazing feature and point of access for us to our client base.
Q – What where your key measurements for success?
A – Ultimately the number of hires, hard to track currently, the number of downloads and the global reach.
Q – Were there any specific design/ functional specifications that had to be in the app?
A – Push job alerts! That’s a number 1 feature for us at RIM.
Q – What three considerations would you recommend to anyone thinking about investing in a mobile recruiting strategy?
A – Apps and mobile web go hand and in hand. Do both, not one or the other. Drive people to your app via every marketing strategy you do.
Q -What is the one successful surprise you have had?
A – Global outreach. Saudi Arabia is our number 1 country for downloads. We didn’t see that one coming!
